Staci (Copper) Grosskopf was born and raised in the small Northern California town of Durham, where horses were an integral part of her growing up. She competed in California High School Rodeo Assoc., District 1, when most of each season’s rodeos still took place in Cottonwood. In 1999, when Staci moved to Paisley, Oregon’s high desert, the speed events gave way to her real love of ranch roping, cow work and doing her best to be a good partner to her horses.

While in Oregon, Staci and her husband owned and operated small businesses and built the foundation of Buckaroo Businesses, a cowboy gear business. After six years in Paisley, the family decided to move to Montana in 2005. In 2006, they opened a store, in Billings, to house Buckaroo Businesses and expanded it into a successful and well-known supplier of high quality, traditional cowboy gear.

Over the ensuing years, Staci also helped manage and assist with Grosskopf ranch roping and horsemanship clinics, traveling to various areas in the western states and Europe. She was secretary of and competitor in the Northern Range Ranch Roping Series and has enjoyed many other ranch roping competitions; raised a small herd of Corrientes; kept a nice cavvy and ran beef yearlings on their ranch in Central Montana. Staci’s greatest joys are her two sons, and all the cherished memories made as they have become young men.

In the fall of 2021, Staci made the circle back to Northern California, along with a few of her cows and horses, and has made a home west of Red Bluff. In July of 2022, she joined the team at Cottonwood Large Animal Veterinary Clinic, where she is the retail specialist, selling livestock vaccines and pharmaceuticals.

  • "Many thanks to Dr. Paxton for being wonderful with my little blocked goat. She was kind and patient while figuring out what he needed most. The assistants and office staff were great too."

  • "As always - thank you Cottonwood Vet and Dr. Terra for your phenomenal care of both my horse and niece! It was miserable hot yesterday and you guys were so great with her and Tater. As long as I’m having horses stapled together and nieces passing out, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. "
